The season is not just about the wide-leg pant; we're also seeing the
skinny pant. Tops range in volume from the structured safari jacket to soft feminine blouses. Dresses have amore classic silhouette, with shapes like the shirt, sheath and shift making an impact. Full skirts are back, but
pencil and tulip-shaped silhouettes are also important. With so many choices, women can really tailor their lookto find what fits them best.
"The beauty of spring is in the many options women have in ready to wear fashion," says Laura Schara,Macy's North Trend Correspondent.
The following are key trends in Macy's Women's Ready to Wear Spring 2008 Collection:
- VIVID COLOR: Vibrant color statements continue into spring in voluminous dresses and tops, slim pants, pencil skirts and shorts. Cobalt blue, tomato red, citron yellow, kelly green, royal purple and punchy orangework as solids in ready to wear sportswear. Abstract and overblown graphic and floral prints also pop in theseason's bright shades of pink, yellow, aqua and green. Anchor bold patterns with basic black or white, and foran extra touch of flirty femininity, add subtle embellishments of sequins and beads. A brightly hued anorak is the perfect topper for this trend.
- URBAN SAFARI: Neutrals return this season in an organic fashion, offering customers a refreshing alternative. Vegetal tones, natural fibers, washed leather, ethnic woodblock patterns, batik and animal prints, and geometric designs are the base for this earthy trend. Key silhouettes include tailored safari jackets, tulip skirts, shirtdresses, oversize wovens, wide-leg pants, tailored shorts, and full dresses and tops. Ornamentation such as burnished metals and coins, fringe elements and wood beading offer clothes a rustic elegance.
- PRETTY MODERN: Delicate chiffon and billowy silk fabrics bring a romantic note to spring. Silhouettes are both modern and pretty; key elements are layers of ruffles in skirts and dresses, lace accents and pleating details. Tulle and organza layers can also be twisted, pleated, ombred or seamed for a fresh feel. Romantic shades of soft, chalky pastels in pink, lilac, dusty blue, light grey and mint green inspire delicate dresses, skirts and tops. One of spring's newest staples is the little white dress. Whether in a basic tank with eyelet and embroidery details for daytime, or a dressed up version in billowy chiffons and silks for evening, there is a silhouette to please every customer.
