Holiday in Chicago would not be the same without the holiday traditions of Macy's on State Street. The magic this holiday season begins on November 11th. The elves at Macy's on State Street have been working for months to make this year's holiday display truly magical.

This years' Great Tree display will feature exclusive ornaments and tree topper by Vera Wang for Wedgwood. With thousands of lights and crystals along with the exclusive ornaments the partnership between Vera Wang for Wedgwood and Macys on State Street will truly dazzle the Walnut Room. Vera Wang and Lord Wedgwood will light the 99th annual Great Tree.

For a breathtaking view of the Great Tree, Macy's invites guests to enjoy breakfast (beginning on November 27), lunch and dinner in the Walnut Room. Revelers might consider an early start for a short wait and great seating in the Walnut Room.

The spirit of the holidays comes alive with this year's theme of P.L. Travers' Mary Pippins. The unveiling of the eleven animated windows will coincide with the lighting of the Great Tree. The windows will be enlivened by the music from Disney's Mary Poppins premiering this season on Broadway.

Every Saturday from November 11 through December, regularly scheduled guided Holiday Traditions tours are available at the 7th floor visitor center. The tour includes background on the State Street windows, the main aisle décor, the Walnut Room and Great Tree along with narrative describing historical holiday icons like Uncle Mistletoe and Santabear™. Reservations are not taken. The tour accommodates a maximum of 30 participants on a space available basis.
