THE 28 SHOP® (3rd floor) Created in 1941, this haute couture shop was named for the traditional entrance of the carriage trade at 28 East Washington Street. It originally housed 28 dressing salons, each with a distinct décor and was designed by Joseph Platt who had completed his set design for Gone With the Wind in 1939. Christian Dior and a very young Yves Saint Laurent made their first trip to America in 1957 to visit The 28 Shop.
